Z43 at the BMES-FDA Conference and ISO 10974 Joint Working Group in Washington DC, March 19-22

The BMES-FDA Frontiers in Medical Devices Conference took place in Washington DC this week, with a focus on personalized patient healthcare and many references to the "digital twin" concept. Concurrently with the conference, the ISO 10974 Joint Working Group (JWG) met to discuss safety aspects of the electromagnetic compatibility of active implants during MRI exposures.

At the latest IEC TC106 JWG13 editorial meeting in Frankfurt, the comment responses for IEC/IEEE 62209-1528 were completed. This is an important standard for exposure evaluation from wireless devices that is now prepared for IoT.

In an article in the NZZ am Sonntag, the results of the NTP study – that cell phone radiation can cause cancer in rats – are discussed. However, the US Department of Health claims that the findings cannot be extended to human exposures.
