Yoon-sun

General Information

The Korean female model Yoon-sun was created in a Swiss-Korean collaborative project called NEUROMAN between IT’IS and the Visible Korean team. The goal of NEUROMAN is to create computational anatomical phantoms to study the mechanisms, optimize neurostimulation treatments, and ensure the safety of such devices. The ultimate vision and strength of these models lies in the detailed tissue and peripheral nerve segmentations from the cranium and spinal cord to internal organs and major muscles.

The original high-resolution cryosection images obtained in the Visible Korean project led by Prof. Chung and Prof. Park from the anatomy departments at Ajou and Dongguk University (movie). IT’IS reviewed and curated the VK segmentation to meet ViP quality guidelines and include all tissues segmented in V3.1 ViP models. The unique image quality and resolution (0.1x0.1x0.2mm) made it possible to segment previously unaccomplished details in the peripheral nerves, arteries, veins and other small structures.

Yoon-sun V4-0 goes much further and includes neuro-functionalized nerve trajectories modeled as splines.  All major peripheral nerves, muscles and blood vessels have been separately named and meshed.

cV4.0

Based on Yoon-sun cV3.1, this next-generation phantom is far more refined, with a four-fold increase in the number of tissues segmented, and also features neuro-functionalized nerve trajectories that are modeled as splines. The spline trajectories and tissue anatomy are compatible with the Sim4Life T-NEURO tissue simulation module and the Sim4Life Poser tool.

NEW (April 20, 2020): Fixed issue preventing picking and snapping to nerve trajectories in Sim4Life.

DOI: 10.13099/ViP11016-04-0
cV3.1

Yoon-sun cV3.1 includes a set of 322 tissues at high resolution. The segmentation is based on the high resolution cryosection images from the Visible Korean Project. The vascular system and nerves are extended and more detailed. The model supports the Poser function in Sim4Life.

Extra Model Data (28 Sept 2020): Blood vessels used for blood flow simulations with HemeLB are available here. The archive also includes centerlines of the veins and arteries.

V3.1 Yoon-sun V3.1 includes a set of 382 tissues at high resolution. The segmentation is based on the high resolution cryosection images from the Visible Korean Project. This version is not posable, i.e. "static". DOI: 10.13099/ViP11016-03-0
