Release of the First Models of Virtual Population ViP V2.0 and V3.0!

Since 2006, the IT'IS Foundation has provided the research community with state-of-the-art computational whole-body human anatomical models. These high-resolution models, which are used by more than 300 research groups worldwide, are already widely regarded as the gold standard of biophysical modeling in whole-body phantoms.

Over the past two years our team has been working overtime to further improve the quality of our anatomical models. IT’IS is now proud to announce the release of the next generation of computational whole-body human anatomical models: the Virtual Population V2.0 and V3.0. Hats off to Marie-Christine Gosselin and the whole ViP team!

This new generation of models has been re-segmented at higher resolution to afford a higher degree of precision and anatomical refinement with more consistent tissue assignment. The Virtual Population V2.0 models are simplified CAD data and accommodate all the needs of a broad spectrum of commercial platforms. The Virtual Population V3.0 offers all the new detailed anatomical features. Both model versions will be released in July 2014.

For the first official presentation of the multiphysics platform Sim4Life at ISMRM we have prepared the Virtual Family V3.0 beta. Sim4Life was created by a consortium of companies and academic institutions (ETH, EPFL, IT’IS Foundation) and has proven to be so powerful that it can even handle V3.0 very smoothly.

As the IT’IS Foundation remains committed to continually improving and expanding the Virtual Population, requests to include any additional features or specific details are always welcome.
