The current reference levels (incident E- and H-fields) for testing compliance of human exposure with RF safety limits are based on very simplified models of the human body evaluated at the end of '70s. In order to validate these levels for anatomical models, the absorption characteristics by numerical modeling for various anatomies ranging from a 6-year-old child to a large adult male had been investigated. The findings demonstrate that the reference levels of current electromagnetic safety guidelines for demonstrating compliance, as well as some of the current measurement standards, are not consistent with the basic restrictions.
