Members of the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering Visit IT'IS

Members of the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering (SSBE) visited the IT'IS Foundation on Friday, 1 June 2018. Among the visitors were two members of the SSBE Steering Committee, Prof. Dr. Daniel Baumgartner from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) School of Engineering in Winterthur and Prof. Dr. Stephen J. Ferguson, Deputy head of the Department of Health Sciences and Technology of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.

The visitors were welcomed by IT'IS founder Niels Kuster, who presented an overview of Z43 research activities. The visit continued with a presentation about computational life sciences (CLS) research at IT'IS from Esra Neufeld, IT'IS project leader for CLS, who also introduced the visitors to the Virtual Population (ViP) suite of computational anatomical phantoms and the simulation platform Sim4Life (ZMT Zurich Medtech AG).

The visit continued at the Yellow Chamber for a demonstration of aspects of medical implant safety assessment from Earl Zastrow. Next, Romain Meyer and Mark Douglas demonstrated the use of SPEAG products DASY6 and cSAR3D for exposure assessments of wireless devices.

The final stop was outside for wine and cheese before the visitors made their ways home.
