The NIM, founded in 1955 as a non-profit public service institution, is China’s highest technical authority in metrology. Under the authority of China's Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), the NIM conducts fundamental metrology research and is responsible for national standards and certified reference materials. During their stay in Switzerland, the visitors planned also to meet with the Swiss Government in Bern.
